Kuranda’s iconic, must do World Heritage tropical rainforest experience has been operating since 1982. Cruise the tranquil waters of the World’s most ancient tropical rainforest on a guided riverboat tour with fascinating commentary. Located on the river below the Kuranda Railway Station, the Kuranda Riverboat operates five daily 45 minute calm water cruises on the Barron River in Kuranda. The river is home to a host of wildlife including freshwater crocodiles, turtles, snakes, water dragons and fish plus many varieties of tropical birds. Alternatively, enjoy a Paradise Kuranda Guided Rainforest Walk on the other side of the river and accessible only via the Kuranda Riverboat. On this tour you are taken to a secluded rainforest clearing where the tour commences. Your guide will take you on an established trail first used in the 1920s where you will see different examples of rainforest trees, vines. lianas and ferns. Sometimes you may be lucky enough to see a cassowary during the walk. Following the tour you will be given tea/coffee and cake before boarding the riverboat again to take you back to our jetty and Kuranda village.
